Arkansas

Currently, Learn Everywhere legislation has not been introduced in Arkansas. However, this page provides students and families with information about available options for earning credit for out-of-classroom learning. While Learn Everywhere allows for program providers to be approved to offer credit-bearing learning opportunities, for the programs listed below, it is the student’s responsibility to submit an application and complete the program requirements.

Academic Credit for Out-of-Classroom Learning

Credit By Demonstrated Mastery

Students may earn credit for a high school course by demonstrating mastery of the content without course enrollment or the minimum of 120 hours required by the Standards for Accreditation of Arkansas Public Schools and School Districts. A school district may apply to the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education to award Credit by Demonstrated Mastery.

Academic Credit for Community Service

School districts may award one (1) academic credit to students who participate in a minimum of 75 hours of “Community Service Learning” at approved locations. Students learn and develop through active participation in organized service that is conducted in and meets the needs of local communities.
