Illinois

Currently, Learn Everywhere legislation has not been introduced in Illinois. However, this page provides students and families with information about available options for earning credit for out-of-classroom learning. While Learn Everywhere allows for program providers to be approved to offer credit-bearing learning opportunities, for the programs listed below, it is the student’s responsibility to submit an application and complete the program requirements.

Academic Credit for Community Service

Secondary school students may earn credit towards graduation for performance of community service through a school district’s Volunteer Credit Program. The amount of credit given for program participation cannot exceed the amount given for completion of one semester of language arts, math, science, or social studies. Community work assigned as a disciplinary measure shall not qualify under a Volunteer Service Credit program.
