Arkansas Families Set Record With 50,000+ Education Freedom Account Applications

Arkansas families are applying for Education Freedom Accounts in record numbers. The 50,000+ applications received this cycle mark the highest total since the program launched under the LEARNS Act in 2023.

Why it matters: Now in its fourth year and fully universal, Arkansas’s EFA program gives every family the power to direct education funding toward the learning environment that works best for their child.

The big picture: The application window opened on March 9, and Arkansas families showed up in record numbers. Their commitment to making education freedom accessible to every Arkansas family is making a difference.

What we’re saying:
“Tens of thousands of applications is not just a number. It represents tens of thousands of families who believe their child deserves an education tailored to who they are and how they learn best. Arkansas has built something real here, and none of it happens without the leadership of Governor Sanders and the commitment she has shown to putting families first. Year after year, more families are finding this program, trusting it, and choosing it.”
—Heidie Nesset, Vice President of Implementation, yes. every kid. foundation.

How it works: Applications are reviewed in priority order.

  1. Returning EFA students
  2. Students with specialized needs, including students with disabilities, students experiencing homelessness, students in foster care, and Succeed Scholarship recipients
  3. Students from D or F rated schools
  4. Students whose parent or guardian serves in the military, law enforcement, or as a first responder
  5. First-time kindergarten students
  6. All other eligible Arkansas students

The deadline: June 1. Families can apply at arkansasefa.com.
