New poll shows overwhelming majority of Texans support education freedom

Support was consistent across ethnicity and political affiliation

AUSTIN, Texas — A new poll conducted by WPA Intelligence on behalf of yes. every kid. foundation. found the majority of Texans support school choice, with 74% supporting and 16% opposing. This finding crossed partisan lines, with 85% of Republicans and 70% of Democrats expressing support.

Furthermore, support for school choice is a key factor for Texans when they’re selecting their state legislators. 54% said they were more likely to vote for a state legislator who supports school choice, versus only 14% who said it would make them less likely.

“Texas families are hungry for education freedom,” said yes. every kid. foundation. Vice President of Strategy Matt Frendewey. “As the results clearly show, this issue transcends politics. Families want the power to decide what’s best for their kid.”

According to the poll, Texans of all ethnicities support school choice. 77% of white respondents, 71% of Hispanic respondents, 67% of Black respondents, and 76% of other respondents expressed support.

The poll was conducted by WPA Intelligence from July 6-9, 2023. WPA Intelligence surveyed 600 registered voters with a margin of error of ±4.0%.
